Watch "Won't Back Down" tonight--and Richard Epstein on how to stymie the teachers unions
Although Epstein is reacting to the strike in Chicago, there is so much to recommend in this article, “How to Stymie the Teachers Unions” : how collective bargaining has ruined the teaching profession and thus public education, the tyranny of public unions and the attendant pension quagmire, etc.
Epstein likes charter schools (we do, too, along with vouchers as a way to bring choice, competition and quality back to inner city schools but let's not forget the mediocrity in our suburban and rural districts). Here's the bottom line: do we care about educating our children or do we just want to hear ourselves blather about it? How many times a week do you hear that education is important?
Speaking of terrific charter schools in Minnesota, please join friends tonight at the movies! "Won't Back Down," will premiere at 6:30 pm on Thursday, September 27th at Mann Theatre in St. Louis Park as a fundraiser for an incredible public charter middle school in Minneapolis - KIPP: Stand Academy. This is an inspiring story!
