In conferring the Presidential Citizens Medal on Ed Feulner in 1989, President Reagan said of the visionary who has led the Washington-based Heritage Foundation since 1973: "By building an organization dedicated to ideas and their consequences, Ed Feulner has helped to shape the policy of our government. His has been a voice of reason and values in service to his country and the cause of freedom around the world."

Center President Mitch Pearlstein likewise has written: "Simply put, without Dr. Feulner's pioneering work, American conservatism would be weaker, our nation would be less free, and state-based free market and conservative think tanks such as American Experiment might never have taken flight, as the Heritage Foundation has been pivotal in inspiring and nurturing all 50 of us over the last 20 years."  Drawing on his new book, Getting America Right (co-authored with Doug Wilson of Townhall.com), Dr. Feulner will discuss government's proper role, as gauged by essential tests like these:

-  Is it the government's business?
-  Does the measure promote self-reliance?
-  Is it responsible?
-  Does it make us more prosperous?
-  Does it make us safer?
-  Does it unify us?

"America," Ed Feulner writes, "is the greatest single political invention in human history, and we believe that its future health will come from restoring the intent of the framers' brilliant blend of adequate federal power under real restraint."
