George Will has been described, rightly, as the nation's "most iconic political columnist." In introducing him several years ago at one of the Center's intellectually richest and most enjoyable events ever, American Experiment President Mitch Pearlstein said much the same: "George Will has been the best syndicated columnist in America for more than a quarter century. Why is he so good? Because as the title of his first full-length book made clear, he understands how "Statecraft is Soulcraft." He teaches how politics and government must be understood as higher and more important human endeavors than men and women simply beating the stuffing out of each other in low contests over mundane stakes.
