New York Times Columnist to Keynote American Experiment's 2008 Fall Briefing
By(line) Mitch Pearlstein
Every four years the country turns its attention to electing the next president of the United States. As the power and reach of the federal government has grown over the years, the importance of electing the right man (or woman) has increased accordingly. I don’t have to tell you that the direction the country takes on Iraq, Supreme Court Justices, health care reform, Social Security reform, and many other important issues will be heavily influenced by the winner in November.
No matter your opinion of the candidates, you will not want to miss our post-election wrap-up with noted author and syndicated columnist, David Brooks, at our 2008 Fall Briefing on November 12 at the Pantages Theatre in downtown Minneapolis. David Brooks is a brilliant columnist for The New York Times and a regular analyst on both the NewsHour with Jim Lehrer and National Public Radio’s All Things Considered. He is the author of two terrific books, Bobos in Paradise and On Paradise Drive, and was on the staff of the Weekly Standard and Wall Street Journal. He also has written for the likes of Newsweek, the Washington Post, and the Atlantic Monthly. Largely responsible for coining the terms “Red State” and “Blue State” after the 2004 elections, David Brooks will have many insightful – and funny – things to say about the post-election direction of our country and what it might mean for conservative values and ideas. Before the main program there will be excellent opportunities to meet and talk with Mr. Brooks at one of the Twin Cities' newest hot spots in downtown Minneapolis. Row prices and benefits follow on the next page. Please don’t forget that seating assignments are based on the order payments are received. November 12 will be a great night to get together with conservative and unconservative friends from around Minnesota you won’t want to miss. Thank you for your faithful support of the Center, as we couldn’t even begin to do what we do without it. To purchase rows or tickets, please contact Devin Foley at the number below.
