“Mitch Pearlstein has done an extraordinary job in painting a vivid picture of this rock solid, six-foot-two, part-time cowboy and great statesman.  This is the kind of book you want to read and then read to your kids.  This is a life well lived and worth emulating.” From the Foreword by Charles Colson

“Mitch Pearlstein has accomplished something beyond capturing Quie’s faith-centered philosophy; he has given readers a roadmap for their lives.”

From the Foreword by Roger D. Moe

RIDING INTO THE SUNRISE is more than a conventional biography of a good man. It’s also more than a conventional review of Al Quie’s political victories and defeats over three decades in elected office, including twenty-one years in Congress and four years as governor of Minnesota.  Rich in memories and stories, it connects virtually every sphere and thread in his remarkable days and celebrates his lifelong love of God and allegiance to Him.

MITCH PEARLSTEIN is the founder and president of Center of the American Experiment in Minneapolis, Minnesota. In addition to serving on Governor Al Quie’s staff in the early 1980s, he has been a speechwriter for University of Minnesota President C. Peter Magrath and an editorial writer for the St. Paul Pioneer Press. He holds a doctorate in educational administration from the University of Minnesota and is married to the Rev. Diane Darby McGowan. They have four children and a new granddaughter. All but $15 of donation is tax-deductible.
