15% of Terror Investigations Are Refugees

This stunning fact comes from James Comey’s last act:

While most of the time he was asked about Hillary’s e-mails and Russia, Russia, Russia, Sen. Tillis asked about terrorism investigations. … Comey responded that out of 2,000-plus “violent extremist investigations … about 300 of them are people who came to the United States as refugees.”

So 15 percent of the FBI’s terrorism cases are refugees – far more than their share of the immigrant population, let alone the general population.

This is an astonishing number that fully vindicates President Trump’s travel order. Indeed, it shows that the travel order doesn’t go far enough.

Moreover, as Mark Krikorian says at the link, taking in refugees is arguably immoral, apart from public safety concerns. The cost of each refugee resettled in America, in welfare programs and otherwise, is immense. For the same expenditure, we could protect many more refugees near where they live, and also spare them immersion in an alien culture. Our current refugee policy makes no sense from any perspective.

In Minnesota, we have an extraordinarily large number of refugees and also have had many terrorism investigations, some of which have led to arrests and convictions. Meanwhile, Minnesota’s taxpayers are paying a great deal of money in order to house refugees here. How much? It is hard to say. Officials at the relevant state agencies either don’t know, or are not anxious to divulge the information. But the Center continues to dig out the facts, and will have more to report before long.
