Senator Franken Cancels Appearance with Second Liberal Comedian

Senator Al Franken is having a hard time finding a fellow liberal comedian to appear in public with.

The Minnesota senator canceled a guest appearance on HBO’s “Real Time with Bill Maher” after Mr. Maher uttered a racial slur on air, “jokingly” referring to himself as a “house n—r.”

A spokesperson for Franken told the Huffington Post Maher’s “offensive” comments led to the senator’s decision:

“Senator Franken believes that what Bill Maher said was inappropriate and offensive, which is why he made the decision not to appear on the next episode of ‘Real Time.’ He was glad to see Bill, who the Senator considers to be a good friend, apologize and express sincere regret for his comment.”

This is the second comedian friend the self-proclaimed “giant of the senate” has had to distance himself from.

Mr. Franken initially stood by comedian Kathy Griffin after she posted a gory photo of a beheaded President Trump. But public outcry forced Franken to backpedal and disinvite her to a promotional event for his new book that she was scheduled to attend.

“A man is known by the company he keeps.” Time for some new friends?
