Coming Soon: National School Choice Week at the MN State Capitol

An estimated 6.7 million people will participate in celebrating effective education options for students later this month.

National School Choice Week (NSCW)—an annual celebration of opportunity in education—will take place January 21-27 to “raise public awareness of the different K-12 education options available to children and families, while spotlighting the benefits of school choice.”

During the week, schools, organizations, homeschool groups, and individuals across the nation plan tens of thousands of independent events to recognize effective K-12 education options. These options include traditional public schools, public charter schools, public magnet schools, private schools, online academies, and homeschooling. This week is also an opportunity to celebrate the commitment of students, parents, teachers, and school leaders to quality, effective education in different educational settings.

Raising awareness about various forms of school choice helps parents access the education environment that best fits their child’s needs.

Here in Minnesota, Opportunity for All Kids (OAK) will host its own celebratory event called “Day on the Hill” at the Minnesota State Capitol, Tuesday, January 23 from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. OAK is a statewide organization whose mission is to ensure that every child in Minnesota has access to an education that will help them thrive.

The “Day on the Hill” event will include a free breakfast, swag bags for all participants, and great speakers. Attendees will also have the chance to tour the newly renovated and restored State Capitol building. For more event details and free registration, click here.

Today’s students are tomorrow’s leaders. Join NSCW and OAK in commemorating the power of education freedom and the positive opportunities it offers to all children.
