Thankful for Martin Luther King

I’m not a scholar on Martin Luther King Jr., and I don’t pretend to be. That being said, I am still grateful for the positive impact he has had on our country.

Many of us at American Experiment are in interracial relationships. While there were never laws against interracial marriage in Minnesota, 16 states had laws prohibiting these unions in 1966, the year before the U.S. Supreme Court struck these laws down in the Loving Vs. Virginia decision.

Mr. King’s advocacy no doubt helped speed up the Court’s decision to hear the Loving case and strike these laws down, and for that, I’m grateful.
