American Experiment Kicks Off Its 2018 Traffic Congestion Campaign

Last May, American Experiment released a paper on traffic congestion in the Twin Cities by Randal O'Toole. That paper was the basis for the web site MNCongestion.com and a campaign that featured radio ads, billboards and bumper stickers. The theme of the Center's project was that Twin Cities congestion is largely attributable to poor, politically-motivated decisions by unelected bureaucracies. The Met Council, in particular, has prioritized trains and bicycle paths over highways and roads, thereby making congestion worse, not better. For the details, follow the links. Minneapolis Kicks Out Disabled Parking for Bike Lanes

If you harbor any doubts about how far urban elites will go to force their environmental agenda on everyone else, check out the latest from Minneapolis. Bike obsessed city planners are kicking citizens with disabilities out of their designated parking spots on the street in order to create more bike lanes in North Minneapolis, the Star Tribune reports. Amendment Stops Pols From Diverting Road and Bridge Funding

There may be an amendment to the state constitution coming down the road on the ballot this November aimed at improving the state's highway infrastructure. If passed by the legislature, the ballot question would let voters decide whether the $250 million a year Minnesotans pay in taxes on oil changes, auto parts and other vehicle services should be spent on road and bridge construction only.
