Supreme Court rules that a quorum is 68: What now?
This afternoon, Minnesota’s Supreme Court ruled in favor of the DFL’s position that a quorum in the state House requires 68 Representatives to be present.

So what happens now? Not much, probably.
The judgement does not alter the essential arithmetic of the situation which is that there are 67 duly elected Republican Representatives and 66 DFLers. If they all turn up to work at the legislature on Monday, the Republicans can just reelect Lisa Demuth as Speaker and we are right back where we were on January 14. To avoid that situation – which has been the goal of the DFL all along – the DFLers will have to continue hiding away and they will have to do this until at least sometime in March when the special election is held in 40B.
It is very much a case of “As you were.”
