The demographics of murder
The Tri-County coroner (for Hennepin, Scott, and Dakota counties) has documented 26 homicides for 2025 year-to-date (though May 16).

[The race recorded for the victim is as published by the coroner. Where multiple races are listed, only the first is presented. The coroner also covers accidents (automotive, aeronautical), these have been omitted.]
Of the 26 recorded homicides, twenty are listed (77%) under a non-white race. Of the 26 total, 19 are recorded as occurring in Minneapolis. The city’s crime dashboard lists 20 homicides, through May 25.
American Experiment’s David Zimmer has documented, using official state crime statistics, that the victims of violent crime are overwhelmingly members of minority communities. (See his report, p. 24, Figure 20.)
So, when soft-on-crime prosecutors want to take race into account in processing criminal defendants, the people who will suffer most are members of those exact same racial communities.
