Minnesota Dad cops a plea
Erick Jorge Diego Alvarez-Henandez, age 46, pled guilty in federal court in downtown St. Paul today to two felony counts: (1) illegal re-entry of a previously deported alien and (2) failure to register as a felony sex offender.
Last month, I profiled this unregistered dad here. I’ll quote myself on the charges he faced in the case,
The first count addressed his re-entry to America after a previous deportation. The second count addressed his failure to register as a convicted felon sex offender.
His registry failure arises from a March 2024 conviction on three felony counts of 2nd-degree criminal sexual conduct. His victims were sisters (not his own children), ages 8 and 9. He apparently had served as godfather to the older sister. The incidents occurred in 2022 and earlier.
He returned to America more than a year ago and was picked on in Rogers in July on a probation violation.
His sentencing date has yet to be scheduled. The guidelines included in his plea agreement call for a prison sentence ranging from 15 to 27 months.
Given his two new felony count convictions, it’s likely that Alvarez will spend some prison time here in the U.S. before he is returned to Mexico.
