Feeding Our Future: 64th conviction
Fourth time’s the charm. In his fourth attempt, Feeding Our Future defendant No. 64, Suleman Yusuf Mohamed, became (coincidentally) the 64th person convicted in the sprawling free-food scandal.
The three previous attempts failed as Mr. Mohamed failed pre-hearing drug tests. From court records,

After strike three, Mohamed was sent the federal lockup at the Sherburne County jail until matters cleared up.

His plea agreement calls for a prison sentence of between 41 months and 51 months, call it 4 years. Under the agreement, Mohamed owes restitution of just under $9 million.
Mohamed was indicted back in January 2024 along with some siblings and other family members related to his sister, Ikram Mohamed. All but one of this seven-member group has now pled guilty.
Their brother, Gandi Yusuf Mohamed, is scheduled to stand trial beginning April 20. In a pre-trial brief filed yesterday, prosecutors allege that the seven-member group stole more than $14 million from the federal food programs (p. 2).
Yesterday, prosecutors filed a 32-page exhibit list for the upcoming trial. To repeat: it takes 32 pages just to list the individual trial exhibits, not to present the exhibits themselves.
Curiously, the exhibit list includes sixteen (16) references to a food site located at the now closed Dur Dur Restaurant in south Minneapolis. Here is a May 2023 photo of the restaurant on Bloomington Avenue.

According to court records, the Dur Dur feeding site took more than $950,000 out of the free-food program.
Dur Dur has not been accused of any wrongdoing.
