Walz lashes out at Trump administration for deporting child rapist
On July 1, news broke that a three-person panel containing Gov. Tim Walz and Attorney General Keith Ellison had pardoned a man who had been convicted of repeatedly raping a 10-year-old girl, apparently to help him avoid deportation and remain in Minnesota. On July 10, it was announced that the federal government had deported the man.
Walz has since denounced the Trump administration’s deportation of this individual. “Did that make us any safter?” he asked, “Did it improve, uh, the idea that we can’t all be judged by our worst day?”
It should be stressed that this individual’s “worst day” lasted two years starting when the victim was 10 years old. It is for readers to judge whether or not his deportation made Minnesotans safer or not.
