A fraud tourist double bill
Two women from Philadelphia pled guilty this morning to Medicaid fraud at the federal courthouse in downtown Minneapolis. Your correspondent was there.
Cynthia Allen, age 62, and Candice Langley, age 46, each pled guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit healthcare fraud. The two admitted to defrauding Medicaid of $3,476,244 through the Housing Stabilization Services (HSS) program between 2022 and July 2025.
Both traveled from Pennsylvania to Minnesota back in 2022 to open fake businesses in Minneapolis to bilk the gullible locals out of millions in tax dollars. Allen admitted to receiving the majority of the proceeds. But each are facing around four years in federal prison, give or take a few months, according to the sentencing guidelines included in their respective plea agreements, and will be asked to repay the money stolen.
Both were charge back in May with felony counts and both skipped the formality of a grand jury indictment to speed up the process.
Sentencing dates will be set at a later time.
