Tom Steward is a Government Accountability Reporter at Center of the American Experiment.
Tom’s reporting generally focuses on government waste, spending, transparency and policy issues.
Steward is a veteran broadcast journalist, documentary filmmaker and communications strategist who most recently reported for the online news group Watchdog.org. Previously, his television and radio special reports and documentaries were broadcast on local, national and international media outlets. Career highlights include covering the fall of the Berlin Wall, a George Foster Peabody Award and capturing the first footage in the wild of the endangered Sumatran tiger and Sumatran rhino for Animal Planet network.
Besides his journalistic credentials, Tom has a background in politics, serving as a regional communications director for the 2008 McCain presidential campaign and on Norm Coleman’s 2002 senate campaign. As Coleman’s communications director in the U.S. Senate, Steward oversaw press operations for the Senate Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations, including the high-profile Oil-For-Food hearings and Coleman’s call for U.N. Secretary General Kofi Annan’s resignation that generated international media attention.
Tom is a co-founder of Holy Family Catholic High School, which opened in 2000 in Victoria, Minnesota.
