Another mass shooting next to Lake Street and I-35 Transit Hub
This morning at 11:20 a.m., police were called to a shots-fired call at Lake Street and I-35. The 2900 block of Stevens Avenue has become notorious for continuous drug dealing and violence.
The shooting left at least five people injured, one with a reported gunshot wound to his head. Three others were shot there just a few weeks ago.
On August 18 at 6:00 a.m., a shots-fired call was made at the exact location — little information was ever released. On August 22, three men were shot standing across from the transit hub.
The next day, the city cleared the area of drug dealers and heaps of trash. But the dealers and vagrants have simply returned to the area because the city lacks a police presence and the will to deter open-air drug dealing and violent crime.
