CAE’s Public Safety Policy Fellow quoted by The College Fix
Center of the American Experiment’s Public Safety Policy Fellow David Zimmer was quoted extensively in a recent College Fix article regarding the city of Minneapolis’ plan to “reimagine policing.”
Zimmer stressed how any plans to reimagine policing will only be successful if they enhance rather that undermine current policing resources and methods.
“Police leaders have long called for more investment in ‘2nd responder’ resources, taking those duties off the shoulders of already overburdened police officers. The difference is, today’s calls for ‘re-imagining’ public safety and policing, don’t view this as an opportunity to enhance policing, but instead view it as an opportunity to reduce the policing footprint and reduce police encounters, etc.”
