In Celebration of

National School Choice Week

Sponsored by:

Center of the American Experiment & Institute for Justice

George Parker

Senior Fellow at StudentsFirst Institute & former President of the Washington, DC Teachers Union

When asked why he is so committed to improving educational options for poor and minority boys and girls, George Parker said:

“A quality education was my only exit out of poverty.  It remains the same for the overwhelming majority of poor and low-income children today.  Poor parents and children need more options by which they can achieve a quality education and escape a future of poverty.  Our communities must come together as a village, free of self-serving political interests, and save our children.”

A native of rural North Carolina, George Parker taught math in public high schools and middle schools in Washington, DC for 30 years.
