From quarterback Colin Kaepernick taking a knee, to Megan Rapinoe demanding equal pay, to Riley Gaines standing up for women’s safety and equality, to Taylor Swift appearing at the Super Bowl, the intersection of sports, culture and politics has never been stronger. Today, sports both reflect and influence broader cultural trends in the United States. American Experiment is bringing together two Minnesotans who built careers in the world of sports and are known for their insights into sports and culture, Joe Soucheray and Michele Tafoya. Michele and Joe will lead a conversation on how the influence of sports teams and athletes has changed over the years, and how sports have come to play an important role in our society and even in our politics. Hors d’oeuvres included and cash bar available.
