Feeding Our Future: St. Cloud connections

A St. Cloud man was recently sentenced to prison and ordered to pay back more than $4 million for defrauding the federal government.

Hared Nur Jabril was the owner and operator of Hormud Meat and Grocery Market, located at 3360 W. Division Street in St. Cloud.

The grocery is the storefront on the right. Jabril was convicted of stealing money from the Federal Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), the Women, Infants and Children program (WIC), and the unemployment insurance program.

By sheer coincidence, the storefront on the left, 3358, is listed as a free-food distribution site under the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP). The site was sponsored by Feeding Our Future and hosted by the nonprofit Stigma Free International.

Nothing to do with the CACFP was included in the charges against Jabril. In fact, no one has been arrested or charged in connection with activities of Feeding Our Future.
