Fleeing teens ram squad and cause a lockdown of the State Capitol

Wednesday evening a dangerous and chaotic set of events ended when four teenage males, aged 12-14, were arrested outside the State Capitol. The incident caused a lockdown of the Capitol while the House was in session.

According to a variety of media reports, the St. Paul Police attempted to stop the boys who were driving in a stolen vehicle. The vehicle rammed a St. Paul Police squad at 40 mph before colliding with a light pole adjacent to the State Capitol. The boys fled on foot, causing the lockdown, but were quickly apprehended.

Crimes such as this have become all too common, especially in our metro area. We can only hope the incident resonates with state law makers who ironically are deadlocked in negotiation for public safety funding.
