Guilty, guilty

Next, state Sen. Nicole Mitchell must resign, immediately. From MPR News:

Sen. Nicole Mitchell guilty of two counts of burglary after multi-day trial.

The two counts arose from an April 2024 incident:

The first-term DFLer from Woodbury broke into the Detroit Lakes home of her stepmother in the early morning hours of April 22, 2024, dressed in black and equipped with a flashlight covered with a sock.

She has denied any criminal intent in the incident, as is her right as a citizen. But she should have done the correct thing back in April 2024 and resigned from her senate seat.

Instead, she remained in office for the past two years, casting the deciding vote in the chamber controlled by Democrats with a one-seat 34-33 majority.

Her single vote allowed Democrats in 2024 to enact one of the most left-wing, radical agendas in America. Her single vote in 2025 thwarted any meaningful reform from being enacted by the now-split state legislature.

It’s an open question as to whether the laws enacted with her tainted vote are morally legitimate.
