New podcast previews legal arguments in quorum case
As the temperature outside drops, the drama in the Capitol HEATS UP! Grace, Kathryn, and President of the American Experiment John Hinderaker break it all down for us in this week’s episode of the American Experiment Podcast! As our resident (retired) lawyer, John lays out the legal arguments that will be heard in court Thursday. Does quorum mean a majority of the seats (67)? Or does it mean a majority of those elected (67)? Hinderaker also announces that American Experiment will be filing an amicus brief with the Supreme Court in support of House Republicans.
The brief cites Minnesota’s founding fathers on the question of quorum as well as the similarities with the U.S. Constitution on how quorum is determined. According to John, “A hypothetical future member of the House is not an elected member for purposes of a quorum or for doing business.”
The podcast ends with an update on the Nicole Mitchell drama in the Senate with her trial delayed until after session in June. Justice delayed!
