Nuke the Mandate, Free the Nukes

Minnesotans can’t afford Tim Walz’s new energy mandate.

In the 2023 legislative session, Gov. Tim Walz signed a Renewable Energy Standard (RES) requiring 100% of our energy to come from carbon-free sources such as wind and solar by the year 2040.

This mandate is driving up the cost of electricity for all Minnesota homeowners and businesses, making the state less affordable.

Minnesota needs an immediate course correction in energy policy.

We need to repeal Tim Walz’s costly energy mandate and build more nuclear energy, the cleanest form of energy known to man.

A 2025 national Energy Affordability Report ranked Minnesota 36th in electricity prices and warned “the state’s increasing reliance on wind and solar — driven by policy mandates — has added significant costs.”

We won’t be able to measure the global impact of transitioning to so-called renewable energy, but we’re already seeing higher electricity prices.

And it’s only going to get worse.

Minnesota is one of just nine states with a ban on the construction of nuclear power plants. We can’t afford to keep falling behind.

Fill out the form to urge your legislators and Gov. Walz to repeal our state’s costly renewable energy mandate and lift the ban on nuclear energy.

The renewable energy standard is pushing Minnesota toward wind and solar energy. Is this wise? Watch our video on the environmental costs of wind and solar:

When something sounds too good to be true, it usually is. Americans have been told over and over that wind and solar are “clean” and good for the environment. But are they really? For the first time ever, we’ve added up the environmental costs of the overseas mining, manufacturing, transportation, and construction that go into these much-praised energy sources. We also examine the impact on wildlife and the quantities of land needed for solar farms and windmills.
