Virtual campus tours give students firsthand knowledge of technical career opportunities

Campuses in Minnesota are closed due to the COVID-19 virus, but young people can still discover what technical colleges have to offer via virtual campus tours and discovery sessions.

The Trades Hub, an online platform with resources on future career options in skilled technical fields, is connecting students with opportunities to learn more about programs, degrees and student life at two-year colleges across the state. Check out the links below to learn more about these live, online events.

Century College Virtual Discovery Session

Century College’s virtual information sessions include a 30-minute presentation on the different programs and degrees the school offers, with “ample time at the end for questions.” The next one is scheduled for Thursday, May 14 at 10am. Register here.

Hennepin Technical College Virtual Campus Tour

Hennepin Tech has two campuses—one in Brooklyn Park and one in Eden Prairie. The campus tour will discuss “the 45+ programs that prepare students for high-demand careers in a hands-on learning environment.” There is also the option to meet one-on-one with an admissions recruiter either through Zoom or over the phone. Request a virtual tour on a date and time that works best for you here.

Anoka Technical College Virtual Visit

Anoka Technical College is offering virtual Zoom sessions to meet with enrollment services staff Monday through Thursday, from 7:30am to 4:30pm. Interested participants will learn more about “the college’s affordability, small campus and comfortable atmosphere, business and industry partnerships that connect students to real-world opportunities,” and more.

Despite the current coronavirus crisis, there are still industries seeking job applications. From an electrician apprentice and a welder to a custom home carpenter, there are many successful career paths in the skilled trades for young people to consider.
