Why banning gas stoves is a dim idea: a thread

On Monday, Jan. 9, Bloomberg reported that the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) would consider banning gas stoves amid concerns about emissions from the appliances.

The piece caused an uproar, with pushback from the public prompting the Biden administration and outlets like the New York Times to walk back their claims. While the CPSC has not proposed any regulatory action on gas stoves at this time (emphasis added), it makes sense to look at whether there is any merit to banning gas stoves, anyway.

Spoiler alert: there isn’t.
