Center of the American Experiment Report Recommends 15 Measures to Fix Minnesota Election Law & Practice
“This report,” American Experiment President Mitch Pearlstein said, “offers bold recommendations for reforming Minnesota’s election system, largely based on experiences and observations from the 2008 U.S. Senate election recount that brought to light several serious weaknesses. It incorporates insights and expertise from a wide range of local, state, and national election experts, insiders, and policymakers.” “Guided by principles of access, accuracy, privacy, and integrity,” Pearlstein continued, “the report presents 15 detailed recommendations in three areas: general election operations, absentee balloting, and recounts.” “We are fortunate,” Kaiser said, “to bring together all of these ideas in a single document to provide a more comprehensive and honest assessment of Minnesota’s election system than has been available up until now. We have an opportunity to help our state reclaim its best-in-the-nation status in regard to election administration. Instituting these policy recommendations is the way to achieve that.” “I am particularly proud,” Pearlstein said, “of this publication as there is little doubt it will prove a significant contribution to how Minnesota goes about its most sacred secular work.” The report is available at www.americanexperiment.org or by calling 612-338-3605. Center of the American Experiment is a nonpartisan, tax-exempt, public policy and educational institution that brings conservative and free market ideas to bear on the most difficult issues facing Minnesota and the nation. ### |
