NYT announces education podcast titled, “Nice White Parents”
“To understand what’s wrong with our public education system, you have to look at what’s arguably the most powerful force in our schools: White parents.”
So goes a tweet by The New York Times introducing a new podcast series from Serial Productions that will launch July 30 about “building a better school system and what gets in the way.”
To understand what’s wrong with our public education system, you have to look at what’s arguably the most powerful force in our schools: White parents. Listen to the trailer for “Nice White Parents,” a new series from @serial, brought to you by @nytimes. https://t.co/ljXOFNOZFO

An overview of the “limited” series states that asking why students of color aren’t performing better or achieving more in failing public schools “are not the right questions.” Instead, attention should be focused on the “relationship between white parents and the public school down the block.” Otherwise, we won’t be able to “understand what is broken” and “why public schools don’t work better.”
