Another Medicaid fraud conviction

Moktar Hassan Aden, age 30, pled guilty to one count of wire fraud this morning at the federal courthouse in downtown St. Paul. Aden was one of four men indicted last September for defrauding Medicaid’s Housing Stabilization Services (HSS) program out of $2.5 million, mostly through his company, Brilliant Minds LLC. Aden is the lead defendant in the indictment.

Aden’s co-defendant, Abdifitah Mohamud Mohamed, pled guilty last week. The remaining two co-defendants are scheduled for plea agreement hearings next week.

The terms of Aden’s plea agreement include a sentencing guidelines calculation of some 2-and-a-half years in prison, give or take a few months.

His sentencing will be scheduled for a later date.
