Celebrating educators: National Teacher Appreciation Week

This week is National Teacher Appreciation Week, and it is an opportunity to celebrate teachers and honor all they do. While showing our appreciation isn’t limited to this week, it’s a wonderful opportunity to reflect on the teachers who go above to help students go beyond.

As a former elementary and middle-school teacher, I know firsthand how incredibly rewarding it is to ignite curiosity and spark a lifelong love of learning in students. But I also know how challenging it can be as well. We ask a lot of our teachers, and this is why we must remember the importance of a good teacher and not take that for granted.

For many, navigating these past couple of years has been some of the hardest years of their teaching career. But teachers are resilient. They will continue to be pulled and yanked in every direction, but I know they will continue to tirelessly toil and endlessly love their students.

Teachers, your efforts aren’t going unnoticed. And your influence can never be erased. May this week always be a reminder of how appreciated and supported you are.

I will always remember my third-grade teacher Mrs. H. and my fifth-grade teacher Mr. H. (not related). Outside of helping me grow academically, both reminded me in their own ways how valued I was and my potential.
