Democrat legislator votes for higher tab fees, then is caught with expired tabs

State Rep. Dan Wolgamott (DFL-St. Cloud) was recently arrested for DWI, according to media reports.

The third-term representative was pulled over in Kanabec County Friday evening, about 50 miles northeast of St. Cloud. In addition to the DWI and expired registration, his vehicle was also missing a front license plate.

You will recall that increasing the annual cost of a vehicle license tab was a significant item in the state Democrats’ agenda in 2023. Representative Wolgamott voted with all other Democrats to increase the fee as part of the Transportation Omnibus bill (HF 2887) less than two months ago.

According to state judicial records, Rep. Wolgamott has recently had another vehicle-related legal hassle. In 2021, Wolgamott was convicted of a misdemeanor for abandoning a motor vehicle in Golden Valley.
