Feeding Our Future: in custody, awaiting trial

Abdiwahab Ahmed Mohamud, now aged 35, was taken into custody today at the federal courthouse in downtown Minneapolis.

Mohamud is Defendant No. 25 in the Feeding Our Future scandal and the only one of the eight defendants from the S&S Catering group to not plead guilty in the case. He is accused of witness tampering in the case that is scheduled to go on trial next week.

I profiled Mohamed and his alleged role in the scandal last week. The Minnesota Star Tribune has a report.

It’s been the general practice for the Feeding Our Future cases and similar/related fraud cases to release defendants on bond while awaiting trial.

Likewise, those who plead guilty continue on release until they are sentenced. One of the major conditions of release is to remain law-abiding while out.

Abdihakim Ali Ahmed is Feeding Our Future defendant No. 7, overall, and entered guilty pleas to two felony counts in the case.

A person matching Ahmed’s name and general age was booked in the Ramsey County jail yesterday morning at 4 am. This person was released a few hours later. Reportedly, he was arrested for drunk driving, but jail records to not indicate any charges being filed.

You will recall that the bagwoman in the Feeding Our Future juror bribery case, Ladan Ali, was charged in a DWI case early this year. She was not jailed as a result, but rather, given extra conditions for release.
