Remembering and thanking our military heroes on this significant Memorial Day

While Memorial Day this year won’t have the public ceremonies or parades many of us are used to, the meaning behind this national holiday is still just as important, if not more so—remembering those who lost their lives fighting for our freedom.

Whether it is flying an American flag or saying a prayer for the families of a fallen service man or woman, it is important we continue to honor the courage and recognize the magnitude of the effort these heroes showed by paying the ultimate sacrifice to protect us at home.

To our military, both those who passed away from their acts of bravery or those who passed away due to COVID-19, and the nearly 700 soldiers from the Minnesota National Guard getting ready to deploy to Africa on June 1, I commend you. Thank you for your service, your sacrifice and handling all the uncertainties facing us during this pandemic.
